Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate

Dr. Pate was the executive director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency in Nigeria. In July 2013, he resigned as Nigeria’s Minister of State for Health to teach at Duke University’s Global Health Institute. Dr. Pate is an American board-certified medical doctor trained in both internal medicine and infectious diseases, with an MBA (health sector concentration) from Duke University. Dr. Pate also studied at the University of College London and earned a master of science in health system management from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Pate serves as co-chair of the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria, member of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Vaccination and Humanitarian Emergencies at the World Health Organization, and member of the agenda committee at the World Economic Forum.
